Valerios Calocerinos

From the Dramatic monolog of The Book Of Vilah
This chapter of my life will soon be free. I am innocent of the crime I am here for but guilty of one which no one knows.
BOOM.......... I made my way to the deck. A man, a Turk from the attacking ship, appeared before me. His saber blood stained, and pointed at my throat. My blade, with crumbs of bread and cheese was all I had to defend myself. His knife came down and sliced my thigh. I probably could of got away, but something came over me, my fathers blood within me boiled, and I lunged at him thrusting my blade into his chest, I felt my fist beneath his flesh. This mans weather beaten face slowly became like a child’s. I killed a man. I was pure up until that day. Are heavens doors closed for me now?
For what seemed like hours I stared. His life, it was so familiar in those dying innocent eyes. BOOM... The ship was sinking fast. There was carnage and flames all around. Then I plunged into the ocean. The instant calm of being under water, I could of drowned peacefully. I could see the ship, and in the distance a beautiful green island. I was drawn to it, I hovered to the edge of a forest where there was a small white house. I entered and there, there I saw Umael, hanging in air, beautiful peaceful and pure. We looked at each other, there was no surprise. She promised me in her last words we would have our place in eternity. Before us there was a great stained window depicting a whole life ahead off us to decipher. The moons illuminated it from behind and the white chamber was filled with spectacular light. I took her hand and we bathed in it's palette. We were gazing deep into each other’s souls, her eyes told the story of the life that should have been, laid out before us. She showed me heaven, I knew she was safe.
But no. I came back up for air into the chaos of life and saw the soul-less husk of the burning ship, cease to exists, as did I.
I was so tiny as I bobbed in the ocean, with no sight of land north, east, west, or south.
A huge fish brushed my leg and I thought my fate was to be that of a great sharks mouth.
But then I saw the most beautiful sight that will stay with me until my last night.
With golden hair and the purest eyes, I was sure I saw a mermaid.
Those eyes could only belong to you, that hair I have been lost in many times before.... it was you....
I swam after you, you lead me to a deserted beach, exhausted I crawled on broken shells and slept for what seemed like days.
I dreamt of your smile and knew that we were both alive in each other’s hearts.
